ATP Science Beta Alanine is a pure Beta Alanine powder containing no gluten or sugar, and is GMO free and 100% vegan-friendly. Beta Alanine is one of the two precursors to Carnosine, a dipeptide that is found in high concentrations in skeletal muscle cells1.
Carnosine is also made up of the essential amino acid histidine, though Beta Alanine is believed to be the amino acid that tends to limit the amount of carnosine that we can synthesize. Therefore, it is no surprise that supplementing with Beta Alanine leads to elevations carnosine levels. Carnosine is believed to be an intracellular (inside the cell) pH regulator, helping to keep the pH more alkaline.
This may be how Beta Alanine supplementation enhances performance in exercises lasting from 0.5 to 10 minutes. Interestingly, and if you feel like experimenting, co-supplementation with sodium bicarbonate was shown to be more advatageous, perhaps by acting as an extracellular buffer. Though you may wish to use potassium bicarbonate if your dietary sodium intake is already high enough.
Beta Alanine may cause a tingling sensation in the skin. This is caused by a harmless nerve irritation. If this effect is pronounced, you can try smaller doses more frequently in order to achieve the required daily dosage2. It has also been demonstrated that the beneficial effects of supplementation are more pronounced in non-trained individuals, and tend to increase with age.
ATP Science Beta Alanine is a great addition to any serious trainers supplementation range. If you're looking for a nutritional advantage, look no further than ATP Science Beta Alanine.
