BSN Amino X offers a range of performance and recovery benefits, mostly attributable to it's unique amino acid profile. Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine in the scientifically validated 2:1:1 ratio are well-known amino acids that delivers results. These branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) improve muscle recovery and help to reduce delayed muscle pain, ensuring you're ready for that next session.
Leucine is crucial for muscular health, as it is a regulator of essential amino acid usage in muscle tissue. Leucine switches on protein synthesis via mTOR, and plays a fundamental role as a building block for protein synthesis. This means without enough of the leucine switch, protein synthesis can fall flat along with your gains.
Amino X provides 10g of the proprietary "Anabolic Amino Acid Interfusion" per serve to prevent muscle breakdown during exercise and enhance recovery. This amino acid complex is composed of branched chain amino acids, alanine, citrulline and taurine, along with 2 grams of "Efforsorb Endura Composite". This product may be enjoyed before, during or after exercise, or throughout the day when training frequency and intensity are high.
Malic acid may deliver benefits to hard-trainers or anyone new to intense exercise, helping with delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Though this ingredient is often used to add a tart quality to fruit-flavoured drinks, encouraging a more robust flavour profile, malic acid (as malate) is a natural part of an energy cycle called the Krebs Cycle. Research is shows that malic acid supplementation can rectify a blockage at malate on the energy cycle, which can occur in sore muscles, thus supporting recovery.
When to Take BSN Amino X + Dosage
The best time to take BSN Amino X is during exercise to provide working muscles with the nutrients required to perform at their peak and keep anabolic. However you may like to use Amino X prior to or after your workout. Mix 1 scoop with 250ml cold water.
Amino X Review
BSN Amino X is one of the only effervescent amino acid supplements on the market. It comes in seven flavours including watermelon, grape, blue raspberry, green apple, fruit punch, strawberry dragonfruit and tropical pineapple that each offer well balanced flavours that are neither too strong or weak. Perfect to slam down when the thirst strikes. Strawberry dragonfruit was one of our favourites!
Amino X is caffeine-free, making it perfect for afternoon and evening trainers. It is also sugar-free and suitable for ketogenic and weight loss programs. 10 grams is a decent amount of amino acids, great intra-workout for cellular energy production, fasting cardio and recovery.
Full disclosure of the BCAA content and ratios would be nice, even though we do trust BSN. Perhaps even some glutamine in the formula would be a useful addition. However, most people have this amino acid covered with a pure powder. Overall, we give this product a big thumbs up and look forward to many epic Amino X fueled workouts!
BSN Amino X vs Xtend
One of the biggest rivals for BSN Amino X is Xtend, which also delivers its BCAA’s in the scientifically researched 2:1:1 ratio. A major difference between the two is the amount of BCAAs themselves with Amino X delivering a proprietary blend of 10g per serve of BCAAs, citrulline, taurine and alanine. On the other hand, Xtend delivers 7 grams per serve.
Xtend does provide both glutamine and citrulline malate in its formulation. In reality, it's hard to compare the two products, given that Amino X is a proprietary formula. It's like comparing the bench press strength of two people, when one does it behind a closed door. So you will have to make your own mind up on this one. Whilst Xtend offers a greater flavour range, the effervescence in BSN Amino X makes for a great tasting, refreshing product.
BSN Amino X Side Effects?
BSN Amino X is a well tolerated product, as it does not contain stimulants of any kind. Though side effects are rare, a close inspection of the ingredients, particularly the colours and flavours, is important if you have food or chemical sensitivities, intolerance or allergies. If you have upset digestion, such as heartburn, gastritis or any other mucosal inflammation within the gastrointestinal tract, seek the advice of your healthcare practitioner before using this product.
